Monterey Whale Watching Tour

We were fortunate to have a clear, beautiful day for our tour. The boat ride was wonderful, and along the way we spotted a sea otter and several sea lions before reaching the whale viewing area. Once there, we saw multiple humpback whales, including several impressive tail lifts and water blows. The boat was clean and equipped with several restrooms, and snacks and drinks were available for purchase. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who enjoys a relaxing boat ride and the chance to see whales up close.

We had a great time. We didn’t see any whales for the first hour + but then we came across a group of humpbacks and they put on a show for us. We paid extra for the upper-deck access and I thought it was worth it. It was a great experience!

This was the best part of our Monterey trip! I was concerned about sea sickness and Lala in the office was so kind and helpful. She made me feel comfortable about going out and helped me with sea bands, ginger chews and sea sickness pills. I'm not sure if all or just one thing helped, but I did not get sick at all and had the best time! The crew on the boat were all knowledgeable and friendly and made sure we were able to see Humpback whales. I wish I would have gotten all of their names because they were incredible! If you are thinking about doing this tour, just do it! You won't be sorry! The boat was big and comfortable and I can't wait to go back and do it again!

Very nice-I was worried about getting seasick but was very prepared and felt fine. Saw at least 15 humpback whales-book this trip and you can’t go wrong!

Great whale watching experience with the Princess team yesterday. Saw several humpbacks, but no orcas. Crew was very engaging and informative.

It was great to see the orcas and whales! The crew was nice and accommodating . The vibe had great exciting energy.

The tour itself was wonderful. The naturalist in the boat was absolutely fantastic and full of amazing information. We went in early October and saw jellyfish, sea lions, and humpback whales. We paid the extra $20 per person for the upper deck, which I believe was worth it. There are several benches and two restrooms up top. The wildlife was visible on both sides of the boat, so being on the upper deck allowed for better viewing. The lower deck does have a large viewing area front and center, but if the water is too choppy you are not allowed to be out there. The lower deck has several benches that are inside and a walkway around the boat for viewing. There is also a snack bar. The water was very, very choppy on the day of our tour. My husband and I used the motion sickness bands and patches, but he was very ill about half way through the trip. We have used these before and have been fine, but this level of rocking from the waves was just too severe. I noticed in the tour company’s sign that the afternoon tour for the previous day was cancelled, due to the waves. The route is parallel to the beach, just straight into the bay until you spot wildlife. Overall the tour was great, but be prepared for the rough waves.

Saw a lot of seals and humpback whales. Narrator was great calling everything out . Would recommend for those looking for a whale watching experience.

Informative trip , good chance of seeing these whales year round as Monterey bay is teeming with fish that they like . We were apprehensive but the kids were delighted to see the whale tails . Make sure to take your nausea prevention to enjoy more and not at the back of the craft.

Good experience, very friendly marine biologist who took time to answer guests' questions. I plan to come back again. The ship is well stewarded and the upper deck upgrade is worthy.
